How Long Should a Padel Racket Last?

With regular club play (once or twice a week), a good carbon padel racket typically lasts 12 to 24 months before its feel starts to change. How long yours lasts depends far more on how often you play, how often it hits the walls and floor, and how you store it than on the brand.

Over time, repeated impacts and heat cycles soften the core foam and can loosen the bond between the layers. That reduces the racket's response, even when nothing looks broken.

Signs Your Racket Needs Replacing

The sweet spot feels smaller

If you're mis-hitting more shots you used to find easily, the racket's response on off-centre hits may have changed.

Shots are coming up short

If your flat drives and smashes consistently land shorter than they used to with the same technique, the racket may be absorbing more energy than it did.

Vibration has increased

More vibration reaching your hand can mean the core or the layers have changed. If your arm starts to ache, check the racket before you blame your technique.

Visible damage

Cracks, delamination or dents in the frame are obvious. Less obvious: small surface cracks around the edge or at the throat. Stop using a racket with a crack in the frame.

How to Make Your Racket Last Longer

Fit a head protector: wall and floor contact causes most early frame damage. Store it in a padded cover, not loose in a sports bag. Don't leave it in a car boot in summer; heat softens the resin and the foam.

Wipe the face occasionally with a damp cloth. Change your overgrip every few weeks if you play often.

When to Buy New

If your racket is over 18 months old and you play weekly, test it. Hit a few drives flat out. If it doesn't feel the same as it did when new, it probably isn't.
