The number is how many carbon filaments are bundled into each strand, or tow, of the weave: 3K is about 3,000 filaments, 12K about 12,000, 18K about 18,000.

It is not a quality ranking, and on its own it does not tell you how stiff or powerful a racket is. The core foam, the number of layers and the shape matter just as much. Longer version in our 3K vs 12K guide.

365 g with a medium to high balance point. That sits right in the middle of the range most players are comfortable with (355 to 375 g): light enough to swing freely, heavy enough to stay stable against a hard ball.

If you have elbow trouble or a long tennis swing, something lighter, around 340 g, may suit you better, and we would rather tell you that than sell you the wrong racket.

Teardrop, across all three models. It sits between round, which is the most forgiving, and diamond, which gives power on the smash but punishes mistimed shots.

Medium EVA foam. Firmer than soft EVA, so it gives more feedback, without being as unforgiving as a hard core.

A sandy textured finish, which helps the ball grip the face on slice and topspin shots.

Yes. Midnight Black, Ice White and Shark Blue share one build: 365 g, teardrop head, 12K carbon face, sandy textured surface, medium EVA core, medium to high balance, £79.95. The only difference is the finish.

Whichever you like the look of, because they play identically. Ice White shows court dust and wall scuffs sooner than the darker two. That is cosmetic, not structural, and a head protector takes most of the frame contact that causes it.

For improving beginners, yes. The teardrop head and medium core are reasonably forgiving, and 365 g suits most adults.

But a carbon face is firmer than the fibreglass used in many entry-level rackets. If you have played a racket sport before you will get on with it quickly. If you have genuinely never held a racket, a softer, round racket may serve you better for your first few months.

You can cancel for any reason within 14 days of delivery. Send the item back unused; if it has been played with, we may reduce the refund to reflect that. Return postage is yours unless the item is faulty. Refunds go to your original payment method within 14 days of us receiving it. Full details on our shipping and returns page.

Contact us with your order number and a photo. For faulty items we cover the return and sort a replacement or refund, and you keep all your rights under the Consumer Rights Act.
