An independent count of every verified padel venue in the UK, mapped against official population figures. 12k Padel analysed 495 verified venues and 1,938 courts to find where padel is booming, where courts are scarce, and how the UK plays: indoors, outdoors, big clubs or small. Published October 2026.

Key findings

  1. The North West is the UK's padel capital. It has 5.0 courts per 100,000 people, 3 times the South East and East (1.7) and 3.7 times Scotland (1.4).
  2. Manchester leads every city outside London. Manchester has 73 courts across 12 venues, ahead of Bristol (42) and Sheffield (41). London has 269 courts.
  3. Most UK padel is played under a roof. 63% of venues have indoor or covered courts. London is the exception: 57% of its venues are outdoor only.
  4. The typical venue has three or four courts. The average venue has 3.9 courts. Only 11 venues have 11 or more, led by Carbon Padel Club in Manchester with 17.
  5. One court for every 35,853 people. Across the UK there are 1,938 courts at 495 venues, or 2.8 courts per 100,000 people.

Indoor or outdoor?

Of 495 venues, 191 are indoor, 81 are covered, 42 have both indoor and outdoor courts, and 181 are outdoor only. Northern Ireland and Scotland are the most sheltered, with 89% and 79% of venues under a roof. London is the most open-air, with 57% outdoor only.

How big is a typical venue?

52 venues have a single court, 208 have two or three, 171 have four to six, 53 have seven to ten and 11 have eleven or more. The average is 3.9 courts per venue.

Methodology

Venue and court counts come from The Padel Directory's verified UK listings as of October 2026 (venues listed as coming soon excluded). Venues are grouped into nine regions; Midlands combines the East and West Midlands, South East and East combines the South East and East of England, and Yorkshire and North East combines Yorkshire and The Humber with the North East. Population figures are the latest ONS mid-year estimates via Nomis. Court counts change as clubs expand, and very new venues may not yet be listed, so totals are a floor rather than a ceiling.
